Tutorial: How to make the Hot Chocolate and Cream Headband

I promised a tutorial on how to make this extremely easy headband. Is so much fun ( OK, maybe was not so funny when I burnt my fingers on the candle and the hot glue...BUT !!!! after some practice I promise you that it will get obviously better! )

So, let's get going...

 What you need:

- any color of  satin you would prefer for your flower
- some type of green color satin for the leaves
- elastic band ( find a pretty type of elastic, or a piece of pretty lace which is elastic)
- a nice bead ( or some small sweet beads, anything you would like for the center of the flower)
- a candle
- a glass of water ( in case you need to stop a fire :))) )
- a hot glue gun
- scissors
- thread and needle

How to make it:

1. Draw circles on the satin of your choice for flower. The circles should be from bigger to smaller. The more circles you have, the richer your flower will be.

2. Cut the circles with the scissors.

3. Measure the circumference of the baby's or child's head for whom you are making the headband and cut your elastic band to that length.

4. Bend the elastic band in half and sew its ends well together. And here you have your headband.

5. Now, let's make the flower. Light the candle. Now, take each piece of circle you cut from the satin and get it close with its edges to the candle. DO NOT put it in direct contact with the fire. Just the closeness of the flame will melt slightly its end and curl them inwards making it look like flower petals. If it catches on fire please put the piece of satin fast into the glass of water and cut a new one. Avoid a disaster :)
Do this to all of the circles. When you're done arrange the formed petals one on top of each other, starting with the biggest one at the bottom.

6. So, now you mostly have your flower. If you like how it looks then you can start sticking it. Plug the hot glue gun and stick each petal to each other by putting a drop of glue in the center of each petal and then arranging the next one on top. BE CAREFUL! The glue is HOT...You don't want to burn your fingers....

7. Now, that your flower is done, you can move on to the leaves. Just cut from the green satin two shapes similar to leaves shapes. One can be smaller than the other ( this detail would add a more realistic feeling to the flower). Curl the ends of the leaves by burning theirs edges in the same way you did with the petals

8. So here you go... If you like it, then you are ready to stick this whole new creation to your elastic headband that you made a little earlier. Just put a dot of glue to the band on the area where you sew its ends and stick the two leaves. On top of them stick your newly formed satin flower. Isn't that cute?!

9. Now take the bead of your choice ( or beads ) and stick it in the center of the flower... Soooo easy...

Enjoy it and make a zillion of different colors ones...Your little daughters or sisters or friends will love these to wear with any outfit...So girly and sweet!
